Roofing in London
New roofs, re-roofs and repairs in tile, slate, lead and flat-roof systems, plus the details that keep water off the walls.
Roofing
The part of the house that protects all the rest.
Most roof problems start at the details, not the tiles: flashings round chimneys, valleys, parapet walls and the junction where an extension meets the house. A small failure there lets water into the structure for years before it shows inside.
We re-roof and repair pitched and flat roofs, and we do the leadwork, fascias and guttering that go with them. Roofs on our extensions and loft conversions are built by the same team.

The process
How a roofing job runs.
Inspection and written quote
We look at the roof from outside and from the loft, show you photos of what we find, and send an itemised written estimate.
Scaffold and strip
Scaffolding goes up and the old covering comes off, with the roof kept covered against the weather.
Timbers, membrane and covering
Any rotten timber is replaced, then membrane, battens, insulation and the new covering are laid.
Details and sign-off
Flashings, ridges, verges and gutters are finished, the site is cleared, and building control signs off where the job needs it.
Common questions
Roofing: what people ask us.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
If the problem is local, such as a few slipped tiles or a failed flashing, a repair is usually enough. If the tiles are breaking down across the roof, the felt underneath has perished, or leaks keep returning in new places, a re-roof costs less in the long run. We will give you an honest view either way.
Do I need building regulations approval to re-roof?
If you replace more than a quarter of the roof covering, building regulations apply and the roof insulation normally has to be brought up to current standards. Small repairs do not need approval.
Do I need planning permission for roof work?
Re-roofing in similar materials does not normally need planning permission. Changing the roof shape or height, and work on listed buildings or in conservation areas, usually does.
Which flat roof system is best?
EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass both last far longer than traditional felt when laid properly. The right one depends on the size and shape of the roof and whether it will be walked on. We explain the options with your quote.
